Shakespeare's Ghost

he says that there is no return to earth
he says thats why he will not kill himself
but hamlet sees his father with his friends
long after his demise at at his uncles hand

my ghosts appear as shakespear's: in the dawn
when rem has taken over my long rest
just as the roosters crow at four am
when all the world seems resting 'fore the day

i dream of some familiar places hence
that take on visions of some ancient trails
where sparcely monyed friends live out their days
in poverty content with their lives fates

i can fly and breathe under the water
or soar above a fruited plain not known
i have visions not those i desire
or am i afraid of sprites i live with there

ghosts of those who've gone before are with me
ghosts i've never known are there as well
sometimes i dont' know if i've gone to heaven
or placed in some benign and holy well

shakespear's ghost reminds me of the known
described as something not at all right there
do we go to that place of the haunting
or simply disappear into the air
